BCM Guidelines -Rules to Live By
Non Linear Editing -
Media management - never save your media anywhere but in
your folder on your 20 GB space on one of the external drives, A,
B or C. Back up your project files in multiple ways, i.e. on a zip
disk as well as in the allotted folder on the computers desktop.
BCM will not be responsible for lost media. If you have an external
drive of your own, make sure you consult with a staff member first
to make sure that it is OK to plug in to the machines. If you
do not delete your files off the computers a month after your project
expires, BCM staff will delete your media.
Reservations
- Members can reserve 5 hours of editing time at one stretch and
no more than 10 hours per week. In addition, you may drop in and
use the editing suites if they are available.
Dub Carts
- Please make reservations to use the dub carts. DO NOT START DUBBING
UNTIL YOU HAVE CHECKED WITH THE FRONT DESK.
Field Equipment - Equipment can be borrowed for 48 hours
at a time unless you have a special request for longer. No more
than two special requests will be entertained per project. Please
arrive for your check out appointment in a timely manner and expect
the process to take up to half an hour. Remember to ask for a manual
if you are unfamiliar with the equipment. Please recharge batteries
and recoil cables before returning them.
Large Studio - BCM strictly enforces membership and certification
checks in the large studio by assigning badges to crew members.
Producers are responsible to make sure their crew arrives on time
and that they are certified current members.
Video Projects - If you are a first time producer with BCM,
you must take the pre production class first. Then you can submit
your program proposal and make reservations. You are allowed 4 camera
check-outs for 2 days at a time, 30 hours of editing
- FINISH YOUR PROJECT BY YOUR 2 MONTH DEADLINE OR
TURN IN A PROGRAM PROPOSAL EXTENSION FORM
- PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR TAPE FOR BROADCAST, WE WANT YOUR SHOW!
- NO MORE THAN 4 CAMERA CHECK-OUTS PER PROJEC
- INCOMPLETE PROGRAM PRODUCERS WILL RECEIVE VIOLATION
LETTERS
Cablecast - Please remember to include a proof of residence
of producer/sponsor with your cablecast form i.e. a utility bill.
Remember to put one minute of black before (or 30 secs of color
bars and tone before) and after your show. If you have left tapes
at BCM past 90 days, please pick them up or they will be recycled.
As you may know, Individual Program Proposals last for two
months but may be extended for one additional month upon
submitting the Program Proposal Extension Form. Also, producers
with registered program proposals can borrow field cameras up to
six times during the four-month
period.
Producers who do not complete their programs by the due date are
subject to a violation and a stricter program proposal system. So,
please meet a staff person if you need guidance on completing your
show. Shows must be edited in keeping with programming guidelines
and submitted for broadcasting with a cablecast request form by
your deadline to avoid receiving a violation.
