Media Services Policy

Berkeley Community Media offers the citizens of Berkeley and Berkeley based non-profit organizations playback of PSA's, full-length video productions and items on our electronic bulletin board on B-TV channel 25 at no cost. Training and membership privileges are available to qualified individuals and organizations at a nominal cost. Certified members and member organizations have the use of designated BCM production equipment and facilities at no additional charge. In addition, BCM management may opt to cover certain events and/or provide equipment free of charge at its discretion.

Occasionally, individuals and organizations do not wish to follow the traditional model for BCM productions. Therefore, the following media services policy serves as a guide to eligibility for BCM production services:

BCM may be contracted to produce PSA's, promotional videos, training videos and to provide other Media Services to Berkeley government departments, educational entities, non-profit organizational BCM members and individual BCM members only. All video productions must appear on B-TV channel 25 at least once after production is complete. BCM may not provide media services for commercial purposes. The following rates are in effect as of 10/01/2003:

Event coverage at City Council Chambers

Camera operator only: $20.00 per hour + 1 hour set-up

Camera operator and CG operator: $35.00 per hour + 1 hour set-up

Event coverage at Longfellow Middle School

Consists of 3 camera operators and one sound engineer and one Technical Director:

$75.00 per hour + 1 hour set-up

Main Studio Rental

Studio only, no lights set-up: $20.00 per hour

Main Studio Production

Includes full crew: $120.00 per hour + 1 hour set-up

Express Studio Production

$20.00 per hour

Three camera portable studio shoot

Includes full crew* and site survey: $100 per hour

Single camera field shoot

Camera operator only* : $15 per hour with a 3 hour minimum

Camera operator and sound operator *: $25 per hour with a 3 hour minimum

Editing

Including tape logging time if needed: $30 per hour

Video projector rental

Includes set-up & strike: $30 per day

In addition, the Main Studio space may be rented out to non-members during non-member use time at a rate of $40.00 per hour with no light set-up and no equipment use.

* - additional travel time may be applicable outside Berkeley city limits.
