Production Tips
Checking in and out field equipment:
Ø
All equipment used must be reserved and checked out and in thru BCM staff
Ø
Every item, every piece of equipment must be scanned or typed in by BCM staff.
Ø
No equipment in or out to members during hours we are closed, NO EXCEPTIONS EVER!
Ø
Appointments need to be made for equipment pickup/drop off. 15 minutes late will result in waiting/violation. No more than 1 check in/out at a time.
Ø
Producers must expect to spend 30 minutes at BCM for both check in and out.
Ø
Producers must set up and do a record check of all equipment they borrowed.
Ø
Media services, education and government projects all need to be booked in advance like any other project. If equipment will be picked up or dropped off special hours, special arrangements must be made with staff so that someone will be available to check it in or out.
Cheat sheet for what should be included with checkouts
Shotgun mics are two pieces, core and head.
XLR cables to be labeled at male end, so label will not be near mic/in the shot.
Field monitor kits. Monitor, bag, BNC cable.
Field audio kits. XLR=>mini, stereo v mono
We do not check out gels or diffusion with our light kits. These are available for purchase at StageCraft.
Members: as far as we are concerned, all equipment leaves here in perfect working order, and it will be tested when comes back. Members can set up and test stuff before they leave if they want to double check for themselves. Remind people, you break it you bought it. Anyone owing us many for equipment is on suspension until the money comes in.
Check in cheat sheet.
Members/producers need to be present for entire check in. They must set up all of their equipment and demonstrate that it is working properly. This is also staff's opportunity to see how members treat the equipment. Make sure to properly coil cables and CARE for our equipment.
Any returned batteries need to checked on camera to see if they need to be recharged.
