Having a Television Show on BeTV Channel 28
Berkeley Community Media offers air time to all producers of video, as long as the project is non-commercial in nature. You do not have to be a resident of Berkeley to have programming on Channel 28, but priority is always given to those who live, work, or go to school here.
There are typically two types of video producers who air programs on Channel 28:
1.) Producers who make their program using BCM Facilities.
2.) Producers who make their programming without BCM Facilities.
If your program is ready to submit for cablecast now, please click here to fill out a form. Be sure to read the policies attached. Fill out the cablecast form and drop it off with your program at Berkeley Community Media during our open hours. We also accepted mailed-in programs. If you wish to submit a regular on-going series to air on Channel 28, email our Programming Coordinator for submission instructions.
If you do not have a membership at Berkeley Community Media, there is a $10.00 handling fee per program submitted.
If you are new to producing video, then welcome to the world of television production! You will need to follow the steps below:
FIRST: MEMBERSHIP + ORIENTATION
Once you have become an active member of BCM you are on your path to creating a program. The next step is becoming certified in the appropriate area needed.
SECOND: CERTIFICATION

If you feel proficient in an area a test out is an option. The cost to test out is the same as taking the workshop. Call or stop by the station to learn more. To see a list of all classes we offer please visit our Workshop section.
THIRD: PAPERWORK
After certification has been completed the next step is to fill out our Program Proposal form. If you are a first time producer you will also need to fill out the First Time Producer sheet.
The form(s) must be turned into BCM by fax, mail or by dropping them off at the station. Please allow 1-2 weeks for these forms to be entered into our database before making any reservations. Feel free to contact us by calling 510 848 2288 or email us at info@betv.org to ask any questions.
FOURTH: MAKE YOUR SHOW!!!
After your proposal has been approved, get out there and make your show! When you are finished, be sure to submit your program to us with the appropriate cablecast form. Programs take at least two weeks to process and prepare for cablecast.
