Support BCM

Berkeley Community Media (BCM) is dedicated to the protection of free speech and community access to the media by and for Berkeley residents. Many people know us through B-TV, Channel 28, the community access television station run by BCM that airs City Council meetings and community-produced programming. We also provide low-cost classes, access to equipment and studio time, student internships, and ongoing advocacy with the City and Comcast to protect and enhance these resources for Berkeley residents.

Three Easy Ways to Support BCM:
 
1.  Sign up for E-Scrip. 
E-scrip is a FREE and easy way to donate to BCM. Basically, you sign up for the program, naming BCM as the beneficiary. Register information for your existing cards: credit card, check card, store card, etc. (one time). Then, when you purchase items at the stores that participate in the program, a percentage is given to BCM. Participating businesses include: Safeway, Whole Foods, Baja Fresh, Macy's and probably most of the larger stores that you are already visiting. Visit their website to sign up: http://www.escrip.com/ and search for participating merchants. Please indicate that you want to give to BCM. Here is what you have to do:
1) Register your existing cards: grocery, credit, debit/ATM
2) Shop at eScrip merchants using your registered card (you probably already shop at many of their merchants like Safeway, Andronicos, Wild Oats, Whole Foods)
3) Donations from the participating eScrip merchants are made to your

2.  Advertise in our new Quarterly Newsletter.
In January 2005, we will begin publishing a quarterly newsletter, containing our new hours, new class schedule, new programming schedule, letters from our Board and Executive Director, profiles on producers, production tips, and more. This newsletter will be sent to all of our members and people who have donated money to BCM. We will also distribute 800 copies throughout the City of Berkeley and neighboring areas. In order to help pay for the design, printing and mailing of this newsletter, we are offering a small amount of ad space to producers, organizations, and small businesses. We encourage series producers to place an ad telling the community about their show content and airtimes. Small businesses can insert coupons and information about their services and products. The newsletter will be an 8 page, full color magazine.

3.  Support BCM Year-Round with a monthly donation from your checking account or credit card.  How about giving $10, $20 or $50 a month?  Giving on a monthly basis is an easy way to give without spending a lot of cash at one time.  Think of it as an investment in your community, in free-speech and education.  Let us know if you would like to sign up for a monthly withdrawl.  All donations are tax-deductable.
